How can an H-1B employee convince employer to sponsor for green card?

2 views 2 answers
It seems that having a green card is better, for an employee, than being in H-1B. That is, there are many advantages for the employee. However, if that employee wants employer to petition for a green card, what advantages are there for the employer, besides not having to deal with the six year maximum? That is, how is the employer better off by having that employee hold a green card vs. keeping that employee in H-1B? Thank you.

Probably not better off except they no longer have to keep track of your status. Once you have your GC you can leave the company and go work for anyone you want.

You could work for the emloyer without havin to leave the country at the end of the six year limit if you have a green card. It requires an understanding and respect for your needs. H1bs are not bonded labor and can change employers even in H1 status. Best Wishes! Lalita Haran 13295 Illinois St ste 128 Carmel IN 46032 Ph: (317) 660-6174 www.haranlaw.com
