How much does a Relief from Disabilities certificate cost, and how long does the process take? NYC

Hello, I need a relief from disabilities certificate. I want to get it prior to graduation. I have one Class A misdemeanor. Anyone know how much it will cost me if I just fill out an application and send my application by mail? And how long will the process take? I am also willing to look for lawyers and pay if that will speed up my process.
You can't just fill out a form and mail it in. You need to make a motion and you will have to meet with the Department of Probation for an interview and background check. Using a lawyer makes sense so that you make a good legal presentation. With certain exceptions, I see no reason a misdemeanor is not eligible. My office handles this work.

Our office is hired n this type of work all the time, while you can technically do it yourself it doesn't make sense as you have to represent yourself and meet nd negotiate with the department of probation, get the matter calenderd and then perhaps appear in front of the judge again... it usually makes sense to have an attorney.

Misdemeanor offenders are eligible for Certificate of relief from disabilities. You can apply for it yourself. As to how long it takes, it really depends on the department to which you apply. They would do background checks and likely will do an interview at your place of residence or in some cases get you to appear before a judge before they grant the certificate. Having a lawyer for this does not necessarily speed up the process but a lawyer could ensure that the right steps are taken in the application process.
