I got caught shoplifting in macys 16 years ao I was either 15 or 16 can't quite remember what age but I'm 31 now....it's something stupid I did a long time ago when I was younger like most kids and teens. I work as a makeup artist and I might be offered a full time position in Bloomingdales soon and im aware that macys and Bloomingdales are affiliated I really want to take it but I'm afraid that they will see what happened so many years ago and not hire me. My question is will they still have that in their system after all these years. In 2003 I got a position with macys working in cosmetics and I was fired 2 mos later because of that same Incident so I'm afraid the same thing might come back to haunt me again.....can someone please help me with answers no criminal record never arrested

That will be up to Bloomingdales. I seriously doubt they will care but it is ultimately their decision.

There is no legal bar but it will be up to the Bloomingdales.

Apply for the job. The worst that can happen is that you will not get it. You don't have it now.

If you were a juvenile when this happened, it should have been sealed. However, you did say that Macy's fired you in 2003 because of this. Are you certain that this incident was why they let you go? In any case as stated above, you should go for the job. If they don't hire you, please request a reason and then you will know if this is what is hurting your prospects.
