How do I collect on a bad check

I am in entertainment business. I performed for an individual and she paid me with a check for around $200, It bounced and said the account was closed. I have emailed several times, and called but whoever answers says she is not there. How can I collect without spending more than the the check was worth?

Please not I am not admitted to the Utah state bar, therefore I will be addressing the question in general and not specific to your sate. You may sue the person who wrote you the check in small claims court. Filing in small claims court will generally cost you a nominal fee, but will not make it cost prohibitive for a $200 check.
