My wages and bank account are being garnished at the same time, what's the fastest way to stop this.

Because of the double garnishment by the same company for two different debts, I'm currently being garnish at 100% of pay....My wages have been being garnished for about a month, and my bank account has just started being garnished. My county clerk said that she'd never heard of a slow pay motion to stop a Wage Garnishment, but i stumbled upon a hardship exemption, and that looks good , but from what I've read it takes time.

Filing a bankruptcy will stop it in its tracks. Not sure of the other debts, etc., but if you've got at least two judgments already you may wish to sit down with a local lawyer there.

No real fast way to prevent the garnishment. You could move your accounts. We do offer a free consultation and would be happy to talk with him. If you looking for an attorney give us a call. We handle a large number of these cases and should be able to help. Give us a call at (402) 455-1711.

You should file a motion to reduce those garnishments. Pursuant to Nebraska Statute 25-1558 you should not have more than 25% of your total earnings garnished. The two garnishment actions may not be properly linked. That 25% should be divided by all people that want to garnish your wages. You may want to file bankruptcy though. By filing bankruptcy you can automatically put a stop to collection calls, wage garnishments. You could try calling the attorneys involved in the garnishment to let them know that too much is being taken from your checks based on statute. They can only take 15% if you are the head of a household. You may want to speak to a collections attorney. Angela Y.
