Does homeowners insurance cover dog attacks on other dogs.
Anonymous2 views2 answers
I was at my friends house. I let my dog out to go the bathroom. The neighbors golden retriever come into my friends yard and attacked my chihuahua. We got the chihuahua from the golden retriever but had to take him to the emergency room. The chihuahua had surgery-which was costly-$3000. Will the neighbor be able to claim the cost on his homeowners insurance and how much will that effect their rates. Thank you.
Maybe, depending on whether the neighbor's coverage excludes liability from damages caused by dogs, which some carriers do - some just exclude the breeds notorious for their vicious attacks on people, such as pit bulls.
As for effecting their insurnace rates, it depends on many things such as the insurer, the neighbor's history of filing claims, etc.
