I have been checking my case status on the uscis website for almost 6 months and it keeps telling me my case cannot be found at this moment.I wonder wether my receipt number they gave me does not apply to the website. Also i applied for EAD card since my asylum has been pending for almost 160 days since i filed and uptill this moment the website keeps saying the same thing.I even call the customer service but they told me to go to my local office. What else can i do while waiting to go to the local office. What will they do?

Hire an attorney to go make an INFOPASS on your behalf to see what is going on with your case.

Sorry to criticize, but your problems seem to originate from your having "broken" one cardinal rule for newcomers: when in the U.S. NEVER file for an asylum application on your own, for the results (in 99.8% of cases) are far too scary and almost always overwhelmingly negative and ultimately lead to your being deported.. To salvage the situation, seek and hire a competent immigration lawyer in your neck of the woods and "unleash" that lawyer to make inquiries with the local asylum office where you filed, as well as with the USCIS nationwide 800 number, and also an INFOPASS appointment with your local USCIS field office.
