I have been struggling for some years now and got a couple debts, I finally got a descent job and am starting to get back on my feet, Friday, I go to the ATM the day after my direct deposit to take money out to pay my rent, and I didnt have any money in it because a collection agency took out a payment of almost $600, I didnt get any kind of warning nor did I give any authorization for the payment, now the bank account has only $23 and I needed that money for rent and diapers for my daughter, along with gasoline, groceries, etc. is there anything I can do to get my money back which I desperately need?

That means there is a judgment against you. In most states the bank/creditor does not need to provide you notice; I'm unsure if that's the case in CT. Your authorization doesn't matter; your creditor has a judgment against you and is legally entitled to any non-exempt funds you have. I Highly recommend consulting with a local bankruptcy lawyer as soon as you can. In the mean time, you should stop your direct deposits into that bank account.

To get a bank account garnishment, they would have to get a judgment. I am sorry for your situation but this is probably within their rights.

I agree somewhat with the prior answers. You did not mention whether you had notice of the prior judgment. If not, you need to return to court immediately to contest that issue and the execution order. If you knew of the judgment, then you are stuck as to the money taken, but can still return to court as to any remaining judgment claims. I agree to the suggestion to stop automatic deposit until this is cleared up.
