Article 894 Louisiana

I received a ticket around two years ago for careless operation and speeding. I pled guilty under article 894. This week my boss informed me that it is on my record and the insurance company has dropped my coverage, for which they can fire me. Is there anything I can do? And you have any clue as to why it's on my record?

If you pled guilty under 894 and successfully completed the terms of the 894 plea (usually by paying a fine and possibly completing inactive probation without any other conviction), you can and should go back to court and file a motion to set aside your plea and dismiss the case. Then, you can expunge the entire matter from your record. Many people mistakenly believe that, when they plea under 894, the conviction is automatically expunged. But, that's not the case. The conviction will remain on your record until you go back and clean everything up. The 894 plea simply allows you to expunge it at a latter date.
