D.U.I (refused breathalyzer and didn't get a sobriety test) Fleeing and eluding (drove normally for a block and a half to big parking lot instead of pulling to a residential drive way) Obstruction to law officer (after I stopped in the parking lot I decided to run due to already being depressed before this incident otherwise I would have not ran) Failure to maintain lane (couldn't have drove that bad because I only had 3 beers 3 hours previous to the time of arrest) My ticket charges add up to $4,500 and I have the money to pay it, should I pay before my court date or the day of? I'm trying to enlist in the army and need this mess cleared ASAP to be able to do so... also is this any chance to avoid probation? cause that would keep me from enlisting also

Those are must appear offenses. You need a good attorney. You are in for a drawn out defense.

Mr. Watson is correct. You cannot just pay those fines like a traffic ticket. You need to hire a very good attorney and discuss your charges with your recruiter. Generally, you cannot enlist with pending charges or while you are on probation, and you are probably looking at at least a year of probation if you are convicted.

You are in serious trouble. These offenses are not simply about paying fines. There is mandatory jail time. Your sentence is likely to be for more than 12 months. YOu will likely be on probation for a couple of years with some jail time, fines and various other conditions (e.g, DUI school, Drug and Alcohol Evaluation, etc.) Moreover, you made your defense extremely difficult by running. YOu might have had a decent defense to the fleeing charge had you not run once you got to the parking lot. It also makes you look as if you knew you were guilty of DUI. Therefore, if you are going to have a chance of getting out of this mess, you are going to have to hire a lawyer.

Cnsidering what you want to accomplish, with what you are charged with, you've got more problems than a New York Show Dog could jump. You need a good DUI Lawyer, and first establish what your priorities are. If your first priority is jail time., here in Fayette County, a first DUI would usually get you a 24 hour jail sentence; however, they would offer you 6 months in jail for the attempting to elude the police. You could loose your driver's license 3 different ways. You very definitely need to get a good lawyer and determine exactly what you need to do with your case. It certainly won't be for you to just show up and tell the Judge you did it, but you won't do it again. Do yourself a favor, get a Lawyer and good luck.
