It is imperative that you have an experienced criminal defense attorney represent you at the next court hearing. If you cannot afford an attorney, it is imperative that you request a court appointed attorney. It is unlikely that these cases will be dismissed. Generally speaking, if the "victim" self initiates the warrants then the Assistant District Attorney may be inclined to dismiss charges when the "victim" says they do not want to proceed. However, in this case, the LEO (law enforcement officer) initiated the warrants and therefore the ADA will likely proceed with or WITHOUT the victims consent. These charges are very serious and it is imperative that you consult with an experienced criminal defense attorney! In the event that these cases are dismissed and/or you are found not guilty, it is possible to have the charges expunged or deleted from your record. An experienced criminal defense attorney in your county can advise you on that process. But I think the focus should be put on the pending charges then you can discuss what happens if they are dismissed.

Mr. Minnicozzi is correct. This is not a do it yourself project. There is no confidentiality online. The accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt. If you cannot find a local attorney on , a good place to look is the website for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL.org) Speak to several attorneys and hire the one that makes you feel confident and comfortable. 1. Sexual Battery will likely include sex offender registry. This is not just a simple misdemeanor. It is extremely serious. 2. If the case is dismissed, the charge would remain on his record until he applies for and receives an expungement, if one is available to him.
