How do I enforce a South Carolina court order for alimony in Texas? Due to his infidelity which caused our divorce,
my husband was court ordered by a South Carolina judge to pay me $700per month in alimony until I remarry. Because he believes he is above the law, he has always told me he wouldn't pay it, though my quality of life has drastically decreased since the divorce. When he lived here in SC, he never paid what he was ordered to pay, and when he was transferred by his employer to TX, he stopped paying me altogether believing that SC court orders have no jurisdiction in TX. My Question: What is the process and how much will it cost to hire an attorney that can transfer this court order and, perhaps, obtain a judgement for money owed so that I can garnish his wages. I know where he works and he will absolutely not pay out of his own free will, so it seems a garnishment is my only option. Thank you
