Second DUI. Immigration consequences

Business 5 views 5 answers
I am a permanent resident and I got my green card in jun 2011. I had DUI charge prior to that , but I got my GC.There was no injury any accident in the DUI charge. I am fighting another possible DUI charge now. If its proven to be a DUI , can I be deported because of this? Again there is no injury and no one was hurt in this. Please advice.

It is unlikely you will get deported because it is not a crime of moral terpidtude and it is still a misdemeanor, however legally you can be deprted on any misdemeanor Because it is a second DUI the stakes are higher on all fronts including immigration consequences. You need to hire an attorney, because it is now much more complicated.

You need an attorney. Feel free to call my office at 949-234-7271. No you should not be deported for DUI convictions alone. Robert Driessen

Because the stakes are so high, I always recommend clients to seek a consultation from a qualified immigration attorney in any case where the possibility of deportation exists. You should do everything possible to protect yourself and accurate information is essential. You should also consider seeking treatment for alcohol abuse. It may help solve future problems before they occur. Best of luck.

The likelihood of deportation is slim to none. You do need to seek the services of legal counsel. We would be glad to schedule a free consultation, at your convenience. Hablo Espanol.

Immigration issues should not be your biggest problem. However, a second DUI is a serious matter, and you should seek representation immediately.
