What is the law in Florida for dating minors?

I am 15, 16 in two months, and i want to date a 21 year old. However my mom disapproves highly. I am willing to suffer parental consequenses but i do not wish legal ones to befall him. I am not looking to have sex, just to see him withought worrying about my mother calling the cops. What is the worst legal thing my mom can do to him right now? What about when im 16?

Legally, a 16 year old can date a 21 year old. Legally, a 16 year old can engage in sexual activity with a 21, 22, or 23 year old person. But the minute the person turns 24, it becomes a second degree felony if that person engages in sexual activity with a 16 or 17 year old person. Finally, I would advise you to listen to your mother. You are too young to be dating anyone who is not within your immediate age range and you will miss out on many of the enjoyable things that being a 16 year old includes is you date someone so much older with you and who has so little in common with you.

I would agree with Richard. While it may be legal it is not necessary to date a 16 year old if you are 21 and above.
