Can a sheriff break into your apartment to levy personal property for previous tenant if you are not home?

The previous tenant moved without changing or forwarding his address. The sheriff keeps sending letters to levy his personal property and does not know that the previous tenant no longer lives in this address. Can the sheriff breaks into my apartment and seize my personal property if I am not home?

Your local sheriff deals with these situations frequently and will help you. Give them a call and let them know that he moved and took all his property. It is unlikely that any law enforcement is going to "break in" but it is best to contact them directly to avoid any future problems.
