I am planning to create an e-commerce site but am concerned with privacy in the United States. i have heard it is possible to host your site from another country that are more protective over online information, such as members on the site as well as online purchases. I plan on sending things (that are not illegal) but buyers would like to keep anonomous. If the site is hosted elsewhere, but the products are shipped from the US, will the package still remain anonomous?

Privacy from who? The government? Law suits? It sounds like you are listening to myths. If you are conducting business in the US, you will be subject to complying with any validly issues subpoena, warrant, etc no matter where you servers are located?

People who refuse to obey court orders for things like search warrants or subpenas can end up in jail... If you offer to do business in the US or in any state in the US you are going to have to obey the court system.

Agree with the other answers, but also keep in mind the postal authority can legally open and inspect the content of shipments in the United States in many cases.

You will have many other questions as you seek to open an e-commerce web site directed at U.S. residents as you will need to obey the laws of the locale where these people live. I have written a legal guide on this site with issues you will need to discuss with an Internet attorney. I have placed a link below for your convenience. You will want to discuss your situation with a lawyer in more detail. Most lawyers on offer a free phone consultation.
