Am I eligible to apply for naturalization?

I received my Greencard 3.5 years ago and got married 1 year ago, however, my husband and I have been living together for 4 years. Can I apply for naturalization? The Department of Homeland and Security states the following conditions on their website:
1. Have been a permanent resident (green card holder) for at least 3 years
2. Have been living in marital union with the same U.S. citizen spouse during such time
3. Meet all other eligibility requirements under this section
I guess I'm not clear on the definition of "marital union" and/or "spouse". Based on my understanding the conditions don't really state that you need to be married for the 3 years prior to applying. Please advise.

The 3 year rule for spouses of USCs is not applicable to your situation for the simple fact that you did NOT acquire your green card based on a marriage to a US citizen. The fact that you got married to a USC a year after acquiring your green card status and also the fact that you are now married to him are irrelevant. Consequently, you will have to wait exactly 4 years and 9 months from the date of validity shown on your green card before being eligible to apply for naturalization.
