If I signed a lease and paid 2 weeks rent in advance do I have to keep the rent 2 weeks in advance?

I recently signed a lease and I am wanting to know if I have to pay rent immediately or if I can not pay for 2 weeks since I paid 2 weeks in advance (on top of the bond) upon signing the lease.

The answer to your lease will be controlled by the language in your lease agreement. I recommend first talking to your new landlord to understand his expectations. From your question it appears that you have already paid the rent and your next payment is due in two weeks.

It depends on what the lease actually says. It is common when you move in the middle of the month to pay a prorated rent through the end of the month and then have rent due on the 1st after that. However, you need to see what your lease actually says.

I agree the language of the lease controls. If you did not read it carefully before signing, now is late, but better late than never. Most people do not really read their leases on the front end, they just sort of go through some motions. I doubt I will ever understand why, but folks who sneak things into leases definitely are aware of the pattern.
