My record has been expunged for a misdemeanor since 2007. Do I have to disclose my record if my potential employer asks me to?

This includes the State of California. Like when renewing a teaching credential. It asks if Anytime dismissed, license suspended, and even if expunged.

What you call "expungement" is actually a post-conviction dismissal of your conviction, pursuant to CA Penal Code section 1203.4. California law does not provide for "expungement" in the sense of erasure, deletion, or making a prior conviction a "never was." By statute, your dismissed conviction is disclosable to all California State licensing agencies, including the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and the licensing agency may consider both the dismissed conviction and the facts and circumstances underlying the conviction.

In addition to whether you are required by law to disclose an expunged misdemeanor, if you do not disclose it on your application, and if the employer hires you and finds out that you lied on your application, it could be grounds for the employer to fire you later on.
