What are my rights as a tenant in the state of Florida to break a lease early due to mold growth in apartment? Landloard was informed about the issue & sent a maintenance man to paint over the mold- obvioulsy it came back and was growing in other areas of the apartment. We had to break the lease asap bc my husband was so sick from it. Now they are requiring us to pay $2,000. There was even mold growing all over our AC coils. The fire sprinklers we also not up to code. We took pictures of everything before we moved out. Pelase help.

Unfortunately it depends on when and how you notified the LL, when LL responded, how you gave notice, the degree to which your husbands reactions were actually caused by mold, whether the mold you saw was the kind that impacts health, your lease agree mention provisions, and other factors. In short, it depends on matters that you will have to discuss with an attorney. Recommend you retain a FL LL tenant attorney and discuss your specifics immediately .
