Confused between Personal Liability and Medical Payments in home insurance policy. Need help asap for personal issue.

I received this letter from the home accident victim's lawyer asking for my home insurance coverage, otherwise they will file a case against me. Personal Liability (covers lawsuit expenses) has much higher coverage than Medical Payments (this up to $1000 only). The victim needed to pay a huge medical bill. Not sure if I'd just wait for the lawsuit because I can't pay the rest of the victim's bills over the $1,000 limit. What is my best option? Help pls!

First, make two copies, give one to your agent and one to homeowners insurance. Let them respond. BI covers both medical and claim for the injury. Medical is what they pay out regardless of fault. However, do not discuss facts of the case with the other attorney--even if you think you are "helping yourself." LET YOUR HOMEOWNERS DEAL WITH IT. Do not discuss on social media. Short answer is this is what you got the coverage for so I believe you are covered. I always ask for higher medical as most people sue because of bills. Insurance companies don't get it, fight higher coverage.

Send this immediately to your insurance company and let them handle it.

Turn it over to the carrier and ask that they resolve the claim immediately under the bodily injury portion of the liability insurance coverage within the limits of your coverage. They will not, but you should be covered if there is an excess verdict. By the way, do everything in writing. However, if a letter to your carrier will not protect you from a lawsuit.
