After five years, my case has finally settled. No liens! Attorney received settlement check. Hasn't paid me yet.

My attorney received the check 3 weeks ago. No Liens against this money. Cut and dry he takes a third. The copy forwarded to me shows it was made out to both him and myself. I have emailed him, text-ed him and called him. No response from him. This is pure ignorance and illegal? Please help.

Its not ignorance. It is probably illegal because he cannot negotiate the check without your signature.
Also, if I were you, instead of emailing and texting him, why not call his office and talk to someone, and if no one answers, go over there and see if anyone's "home".
Your attorney should have a trust account to deposit the check into, and also, should have prepared a closing statement or settlement statement outlining all claims, liens, etc.
That said, there could be another reason for the delay. The case may be settled but it may be dependent on a court order approving the settlement. That much no one really knows because we have no idea what your lawyer is actually doing.
There have been some instances where a lawyer has been killed in an accident, or in the hospital, or some other intervening event has occurred and there is a delay because no one else can handle his/her business.
All speculation at this point. You've documented your contacts in writing, so now phone, go by. See what's going on there.
Also, you are writing from MA. Its entirely possible with the weather being this God awful, that your lawyer simply is not anywhere near the office.
I agree with the other post here that recommends you just drop by the attorney's office. I'd also continue to email, call and text. If no one responds to you within 48 hours, I'd send an email saying that you'll be forced to speak with the BBO regarding the attorney's conduct if you don't hear back within 2 business days of the email.
You deserve some answers. Good luck.
I think you should call and let him know when you are coming by and go If there are others lawyers in the suite, ask them. The explanation could be as simple as he or she took a three week vacation and only arranged for someone to cover emergencies
Good luck
