Can I travel outside US with travel document if was illegal before got asylum?

I'm a derivative asylee (my husband is a principal one). Before my status was approved I used to live in the USA with expired visa for more than one year. Now I haven't applied for green card yet, but I've got Travel passport. Can I travel outside the US? Will I face any troubles re-entering the country?

Once granted political asylee status, whether as principal or, as in your case as a derivative, all your prior immigration sins and transgressions have been forgiven, "washed off", if you will. You now have nothing to worry about. Travel on your "Refugee Travel Document" and make sure to apply and obtain visas to whichever destination you are contemplating to travel.
Bon Voyage!
Yes, but as my colleague suggested, make sure you carry all your proper documentation with you. You are not subject to the 3/10 year bar for overstaying your prior visa. You shouldn't have any trouble re-entering the country.
If you are an asylee , you can request and obtain a travel document from USCIS and you will then be able to travel abroad. You need to contact the consulates of the countries that you wish to visit in order to inquire if you need a visa.
You may travel but you will put your status in jeopardy should you travel to the country from which you sought asylum. You may need a visa to enter certain countries and you need a valid travel document as well as satus
I would not recommend traveling to your home country, as it could jeopardize your Asylee status. And it might very well come up when you apply for LPR status. But if you travel to a third country you should be fine. As one of my colleagues mentioned, make sure to have not just the travel document but a copy of the Court's order granting the Asylum.
