I need to know if I can sue.

I got accepted for a government grant. They had explained to me why i did, what i had to do and how it was going to work for me to get it. Now what they didn't tell me was the money I had to pay for a "fee" of 212 dollars for non refundable. After I gave them the money, they said the back in new york was going to give me a call to transfer the grant to my account. But when the bank called, they said I had to pay a ppi off 499 dollars which they also didn't tell me that either. now I lost all the money I had and I feel like it's a fraud. What can I do?

Unfortunately, this sounds like a classic scam--only instead of "pay money to help collect some Nigerian lottery winnings," it was "pay money to collect your government grant." You can try to sue, but you might not have much luck unless it's a local firm.

You might want to contact the Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Protection office http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/ and see how they can help you.

I agree with previous responders. People who operate scams like this are elusive, and it would likely be pointless to sue them. If this outfit claimed to have a Massachusetts address or phone number, you might want to contact the Attorney General's office, which might be able to try to shut them down. Otherwise, the FTC would be the best point of contact.
