We were watching a movie in the dark the student entered my room and hit me from behind. I have never met this student. I have never had any interaction with this student, no prior confrontation or provocation. There was no security in the hall. I will never feel safe at work again

I'm sorry to hear this happened. Were you injured? I am no labor law specialist, but if u were injured, I would think u have a workers comp claim against your employer. You also may have a claim for damages against the student and his family. There may also be battery criminal charges against the student. Many facts and issues unanswered in this scenario including what damages u suffered.
