I am looking for an attorney to help me keep my license, as the points for this tickee will put me over looking into things I am very confused with the terms here in new york it seems speeding is an infraction, but the judge kept referring to it as a "violation" these seem to be different things I was arrested on 10 mph over " Speed in Zone "

In this case the terms are interchangeable. It carries 3 points. Many times we can reduce it to 0 points.

Contact an attorney and they'll likely be able to get the prosecutor to amend your speed, or the charge itself, to something that will not be reported on your driving history. The legal fee is money well spent. While hiring a lawyer may cost you more upfront, it's money in the bank down the road because once your insurance premiums go up they usually stay that way for quite some time. Here in Georgia, it's 3-5 years. Good luck!

The terms mean the same thing. They are not crimes.

The terms mean the same thing in this context in New York. There many be ways to get the local prosecutor and judge to reduce the ticket to keep you from receiving any points on this violation. Also there may be ways to review and re-explore prior ticket convictions to get them amended and reduced. Finally, there may may be non-judicial options for reducing the number of points on your driving record. Consult local counsel to learn about these options.

We can't solicit or recommend but you definitely should retain an experienced traffic ticket attorney to review your record and options if you are worried that you will lose your driving privileges. Yes, in NY traffic infraction and traffic violation man the same thing.
