Bench Warrant in East Lansing, MI for failure to appear.

I have a bench warrant for failure to appear in east Lansing, MI. I would like to take care of it but scared that I would get arrested when I show up in court. Would I get arrested when I show up at the clerks office to take care of the warrant. Can a lawyer show up in court and get the warrant recalled. I now live in a different state. BW $200 BOND PER JUDGE BALL CWB I checked my case on the courts website and saw this. Does that mean I wont get arrested if I were to pay the $200. The original offense was for violation of instruction permit. Thanks

Hire an attorney to clear the warrant for you as you live in another state. Do not delay

I strongly encourage you to hire a criminal attorney in your area to assist you, especially because you are no longer in Michigan. If you can't afford an attorney, you can call the court clerk and explain your situation. No guarantees, but better than having an active warrant out for your arrest. Best of luck.

I would recommend contacting a local attorney to assist you with this. An attorney can get in touch with the court and make arrangements for you to appear on the warrant. He/she will also be able to appear with you in court to help with the case.

You need to get this taken care of as soon as possible because otherwise you run the risk of getting hauled into jail the next time you come into contact with the police, no matter how inconvenient the timing. No, what the $200 probably means is that is the bond you will be required to post when/if you appear on the bench warrant to assure the court you will make all future court dates. The 54-B District Court does arraignments first thing in the afternoon but you have to be there on time! If you don't feel comfortable going alone, look for a lawyer from the Lansing/East Lansing area to help you. If nothing else, it will give you peace of mind that you won't have to face the judge alone.
