Is this statement true or not?

"here are some crude statistics from papers published in the New England Journal of Medicine: people who sustained physical injuries win about 73% of malpractice lawsuits for an average settlement of just over $500,000. If you're offered a settlement the amount will be less, but settlements are a sure thing once you've signed the papers."

I can't even tell what it means. Physical injuries? Most malpractice lawsuits fail. Plenty of circumstances involve bad results --physical problems which were not caused by the physician's negligence. Even where a malpractice plaintiff prevails at trial, awards may differ dramatically depending on where the case is tried. "Average" settlements are meaningless. "[O]nce you've signed the papers" -- what papers? The settlement agreement? If you're agreeing to settle in exchange for money, OF COURSE you receive money after you sign the agreement. If "the papers" refers to "the complaint," the statement is false.

As you state. These are crude statements. Do you want to rely on what you read in the newspapers? Medical malpractice lawsuits are VERY tough!!! Perhaps the toughest CIVIL SUIT there is. Each case is different according to its own set of facts. But you can also ADD to your article that Insurance Companies refuse/contest/deny 100% of all medical malpractice lawsuits simply because they do not want to pay!
