Who do we file a lawsuit against, owner or the consignor?

I have to file a lawsuit against someone but not sure who. We purchased a boat on consignment and was told by the consignor that it had a new engine in the boat. We took the boat out the following weekend and spun a bearing not even an hour into driving the boat. Went and talked to the actual owner and was told that the motor was replaced by a friend and that it was out on the lake 2 weeks before (which is a total lie or the engine would have broke on them). The boat was misrepresented by both parties as to say there was a new engine when theoretically that is not considered a new engine if replaced by a friend. We were misrepresented on a material fact therefore we have to file a lawsuit but don't know who we actually have to file against?
