I received a citation for failure to yield right of way, left turn and I need to know if I should fight the ticket in court.
I was in the left turn lane with 4 vehicles in front of me. The turn signal turned green & we all moved forward. When I arrived at the light the turn signal was still green. I proceeded into the turn & realized that the car in front of me had slowed so I slowed as well. I then realized one of the cars had stopped just past the intersection to turn left into a gas station & was causing traffic to back up. At that point, the light had changed & I was sitting in oncoming traffic. I could not back up nor could I switch to the other lane. An officer who was waiting to make a right turn onto the same street saw me blocking traffic. He pulled me & gave me the citation. Can I fight this due to the fact I actually did have the right of way when I made the turn?
