Ask your attorney. We know nothing of your case.
If you are having difficulty reaching your counsel by telephone or email, visit counsel at his or her office.
Asking attorneys with no knowledge of the case or circumstances why counsel asked for or agreed to a continuance is not going to get you a firm, reliable answer.
The answer is you have to ask you lawyer. I can tell you though, that your post and comments suggest that your expectations regarding resolution of the case may be unreasonable and driven by trying to handle a legal case on a shoestring budget with an over financed loan. To be clear, if you are involved in a litigation case and complain about the expense of telephone calls to your lawyer, as referenced in another response, its obvious that there are significant financial funding issues that are not the lawyers responsibility. I suspect that one potential reason for the lack of responsiveness of the lawyer may well be related to the outstanding attorney's fees, expenses or some other similar financial issue, where you are demanding or expecting work immediate effort and the lawyer is waiting on payment. As an example, almost all appellate issues are separately charged from an underlying case and are typically very expensive.
